Julie Brett Artist based in Cornwall

Born in East Anglia, Julie studied at Colchester School of Art and came to  Cornwall in the 1980’s, opening a gallery in Polperro with her husband Colin.

A keen admirer of the Newlyn School, Julie particularly loved the pastel work of Elizabeth Adela Forbes, which inspired her own work. Julie loved to portray the area’s natural beauty, its beaches, rugged cliffs, and wild moorland. In 2005 Julie was diagnosed with cancer and when strong again staged a solo exhibition of  her work in aid of Cancer Research UK to thank all those who helped her.

She continued to paint until shortly before her death, regularly exhibiting her work at Elford Fine Art in Tavistock where it was eagerly awaited by existing collectors and  admirers who appreciated the sense of freedom and joy she brought to each image.
